Don't forget to if you think of one I missed!

newnewnewnewnewnewnewnewnewnewnewnewnewnewnew

Adam Boys - From the animated film Vip, mio fratello superuomo (1968). Foursome (drums, standup bass, guitar, sax) dressed only in grass skirts who play a cruise ship in this comic Italian animated film known as The Super-Vips in English.

Blood Farts, The - From the film Bad News Bears (2005). In this remake of the 1976 film, real band Phantom Planet has a cameo as this disgustingly named fake punk band. Played by Jeff Conrad, Sam Farrar, Alex Greenwald, and Darren Robinson, and listed as "State Band" in credits. Thanks to James M. Sloan for this one.

Charles, James, William, and Stanley - From the TV series Otherworld (02/16/85). One of the boring popular music groups of boring Centrex City handled by booking agent Billy Sunshine (Michael Callan), and only glimpsed as a picture on his office wall in the "Rock and Roll Suicide" episode. See also Trace and Gina.

Coronets, The - From the book Sick of Being Me (2003). Sean Egan's first novel focuses on heroin addict Paul Hazelwood, guitarist for this band.

Eat Dirt - From the animated TV series The Boondocks (12/11/05). From "The Story of Gangstalicious" episode. Eat Dirt is voiced by real rapper DJ Pooh. Thanks to Me Am Hulk for this one.

Gangstalicious - From the animated TV series The Boondocks (12/11/05). From "The Story of Gangstalicious" episode. Gangstalicious is voiced by real rapper Mos Def. Thanks to Me Am Hulk for this one.

Geronimo Jackson - From the TV series Lost (01/18/06). There's a glimpse of the album cover, looking super hippy-dippy trippy and oh-so-late sixties, or early seventies. Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) mentions that he's never heard of them, musical expert that he is. There's a chance it's real, but incredibly obscure, but I think it's probably fake, so I'm going to go ahead and list it here. One of the other albums seen is The Pousette-Dart Band, which is real. Another band glimpsed when Hurley the fat guy (Jorge Garcia) is flipping thru records is "Ooklah the Moc" which is a reference to the 1980-1982 cartoon Thundarr the Barbarian, which had a character called "Ookla the Mok." Ookla was apparently named after UCLA. There's a Hawaian reggae band called Ooklah the Moc, but they've only been around since 1997, and the cache of vinyl albums Charlie and Hurley find supposedly hasn't been touched since the early 80s. Lost films in Hawaii, so it's probably somebody on the show giving atiny shout out to this local band by slipping them in the record pile. Thanks to Jason Torchinsky for this one.

Hazelwood, Paul - See The Coronets.

Intervals, The - From the TV series Otherworld (02/16/85). One of the boring popular music groups of boring Centrex City handled by booking agent Billy Sunshine (Michael Callan), and only glimpsed as a picture on his office wall in the "Rock and Roll Suicide" episode. See also Trace and Gina.

Jackson, Geronimo - See Geronimo Jackson.

Leonard and the Love Gods - From the comic book Hate (199?).

Magnesium Arc - From the comic book Magnesium Arc (1993). Electronic trance band from this one shot Caliber Press comic of the same name, written and drawn by Matt Howarth. Members: Twins Bob (percussion) and Kat Wallis (keyboards), and Sean Muche (guitar). Online sample here.

McCormick, Kenny - From the animated TV series South Park (04/26/00). In the "Quintuplets 2000" episode, the kids are forced to go see the Cirque du Cheville (a Cirque du Soleil parody) and are bored stiff. However, after being impressed by the final act, the contortionist Vladchick Quintuplets, and how much the place makes on souveniers, they decide to create their own circus to make money. Kenny is chosen to be the singer, he practices, and reads Singing Like Bocelli for Dummies. When an instructor tells him he must go to a European conservatory to be a real singer, he sings for bus and air fare all the way to Romania to join the Romanian School of Music, where he becomes an acclaimed classically trained opera singer. He becomes so good, they ask him to stay. And he does. Only his dad, back in America, with prodding from the U.S .government, demands he come back to the U.S., in a parody of the Elian Gonzalez saga. And then, as usual, Kenny dies.

Mellow Magic - From the TV series Otherworld (02/16/85). One of the boring popular music groups of boring Centrex City handled by booking agent Billy Sunshine (Michael Callan), and only glimpsed as a picture on his office wall in the "Rock and Roll Suicide" episode. See also Trace and Gina.

Moe Syzlak Connection, The - From the animated TV series The Simpsons (04/27/03). In the "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" episode, guest star David Byrne just happens to pass by and hear Homer's anti-Flanders song, which he then records, produces, and turns into a hit. It's so big a hit, the Simpsons go to a dude ranch to get the hell away from it. When they come back, this "band" (Moe the bartender) has a hit- a parody version of the Andrea True Connection's "More, More, More." See also Homer Simpson

Ooklah the Moc - See Geronimo Jackson.

Personalities, The - From the TV series Otherworld (02/16/85). One of the boring popular music groups of boring Centrex City handled by booking agent Billy Sunshine (Michael Callan), and only glimpsed as a picture on his office wall in the "Rock and Roll Suicide" episode. See also Trace and Gina.

Schweiger, Fraulein - From the film The Sound of Music (1965). I should hope everybody knows that The Von Trapp Family Singers from this classic film are a real act whose story was dramatized in the film. But at the end of the film, there are some fake artists at the competition competing against them, including this one. "Fraulein" just means "Miss" in German, but they didn't give her first name. She won third prize at the Salzberg Festival.

Sebastian, Horatio Thelonious Ignatius Crustacius - From the animated film The Little Mermaid (1989). The crab court composer/conductor of King Triton who inadvertantly ends up as Ariel's babysitter and bodyguard. Voiced by Samuel E. Wright.

Semi-Precious Stones, The - From the TV series Otherworld (02/16/85). One of the boring popular music groups of boring Centrex City handled by booking agent Billy Sunshine (Michael Callan), and only glimpsed as a picture on his office wall in the "Rock and Roll Suicide" episode. See also Trace and Gina.

Simpson, Homer - From the animated TV series The Simpsons (04/27/03). In the "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" episode, guest star David Byrne just happens to pass by and hear Homer's anti-Flanders song, which he then records and produces as a duet with Homer, and turns into a hit. It's so big a hit, the Simpsons go to a dude ranch just to get the hell away from it. Lisa develops a crush on one of the cowboys there.

Toby Reiser Quintet, The - From the film The Sound of Music (1965). I should hope everybody knows that The Von Trapp Family Singers from this classic film are a real act whose story was dramatized in the film. But at the end of the film, there are some fake artists at the competition competing against them, including this one. The Toby Reiser Quintet win second prize at the Salzberg Festival.
