Band of fictional insects singing with sped-up voices, done as a cheap, cash-in on the popularity of Alvin and the Chipmunks. From the album Christmas with The Happy Crickets (Grand Prix Records, KX-9). The original 1958 single was on Cricket Records, CX-18.
The album was re-released with different covers under different labels: International Award Series, AKX-9 and Design Records, DLPX-11.
There was a followup album, The Happy Crickets Featuring The Chipmunk Song on Happy Time Records, HT-1006. It's mostly public domain kid songs.
Cricket Records, Grand Prix Records, International Award Series, and Design Records, were all subsidiary labels of Pickwick Records.
