Sad opera singer from the Willa Cather short story "Nanette: An Aside," first published in Courier on 31 July 1897. Cather later reworked the story as "A Singer's Romance," and changed the opera singer's name to Frau Selman Schumann.

The story was also adapted into a 1977 TV Movie Nanette: An Aside
