Leila Complete Love Magazine.png

Kitchen worker turned club singer in the "Price Tag on Love" story in romance comic book Complete Love Magazine vol. 29, no. 3 (#171, July 1953). Club owner Kip White has a big fight with his girlfriend and star of his club's show, Myra La Rue. She thinks Kip will come crawling back. Determined to get even, Kip instead pulls Leila from the kitchen and puts her onstage. He has a new act tailored for her, with singing and dancing.

Kip and Myra break up, and Leila and Kip become an item, bonding over their lower class upbringings and swapping snappy patter like a 1930s film. But when Kip is out of town, Leila starts seeing wealthy Carolina tobacco heir Anthony Bardell. They jaunt off to Mexico City, but when she talks marriage, he flies off, leaving her stranded with only five measly bucks. She gets a job dancing in a "cheap dive" but when she won't give in to the manager's advances, he stiffs her. She gets sick, and is about to be kicked out of her hotel. She sends a desperate telegram to Kip, who arrives in the nick of time to save her and take her home to the States. They reconcile.

Leila's last name is never given, but at the end she marries Kip, so she likely changed whatever it was to White.
