Sindarin elf and minstrel and loremaster in the court of King Thingol of Doriath, first mentioned in Appendix E, Part II: Writing, of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

He is credited with expanding and developing the simple runic Cirth writing system into the "Alphabet of Daeron," which ironically fell out of use by elves but was continued to be used by Dwarves.
