One of the many fictional jazz outfits created by DJ/producer Madlib in the 2000s and 2010s. The releases by these 'bands' on Stones Throw Records often looked and sounded as if they were vintage and discovered in a second-hand record store, with pre-printed ringwear on the cover and pre-recorded vinyl crackling in between songs.

Drummer in The Last Electro-Acoustic Space Jazz And Percussion Ensemble is Otis Jackson Jr., the most obvious alias for Madlib, since that's his birth name. On the album "Miles Away" from 2010, the ensemble pays tribute to a different actual jazz musician on each track. The tracklisting:

  • Derf (For Derf Reklaw)
  • One (For The Monica Linges Band)
  • Horace (For Horace Tapscott)
  • Waltz For Woody (For Woody Shaw)
  • Shades Of Phil (For Phil Ranelin)
  • Black Renaissance (For Harry Whitaker)
  • Tones (For Larry Young)
  • Mystic Voyage (For Roy Ayers)
  • Two Stories For Dwight (For Dwight Tribble)
  • The Trane & The Pharoah (For John Coltrane & Pharoah Sanders)

Line-up on "Miles Away"

  • Emil Taylor - fretless electric bass
  • Mary Lou Hudson - congas, tambourine
  • Otis Jackson Jr. - drums, percussion
  • Chuck King - Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos
  • Teddy Davis - electric flute, percussion
  • Willie Austin - guitar, harp
  • Kamala Walker - organ, accordion
  • Lady Faye - percussion

  • Ahmad Miller - sitar, vibraphone
  • Tanya Harrison - Moog synthesizer
