R&B legend played by John Legend in the 2008 musical dramedy Soul Men. His death inspires Floyd Henderson (Bernie Mac) and Louis Hinds (Samuel L. Jackson), his former back-up singers and the movie's protagonists, to bury the hatchet and drive cross-country for a memorial concert at the Apollo Theater.
