Philandering, conniving, and extremely charming nightclub performer who is the protagonist of a series of epistolary short stories by John O’Hara, a 1940 novel consisting of those stories, a 1940 Rodgers and Hart musical, and a 1957 movie musical. Gene Kelly played Evans on Broadway and Frank Sinatra played him in the film.
