Stone Al The Singing Fool.jpg

Singing waiter and songwriter turned Broadway star, played by Al Jolson in his follow-up to The Jazz Singer, the 1928 film The Singing Fool. It was a smash success for Warner Brothers, and had the hit song "Sonny Boy."

Stone falls for the speakeasy's cold, calculating singer Molly Winton (Josephine Dunn), who marries Stone as a stepping stone when he gets a Broadway contract. They have a son (Davey Lee), but Molly has an affair and leaves Stone, taking their son with her.
