Smooth, soulless tune crooner in music videos on a couple of "The Gerry Todd Show" sketches from SCTV. Rick Moranis plays both Munroe and Gerry Todd. On the 22 May 1981 episode, he sings the new wave hits "Turning Japanese" (The Vapors) and "De Do Do Do De Da Da Da" (The Police), both from his videodisc On A New Wavelength. On the 10 July 1981 episode, Gerry shows Tom's video for "Downtown," from his Tom Munroe Sings Petula Clark album. But the interesting thing is that SCTV was doing music video parodies before MTV went on the air (1 Aug. 1981)!
