"The hottest band around" according to a grade schooler in the 1999 young adult novel Dracula Doesn't Rock and Roll, number 39 in the The Bailey School Kids series by Debby Cadet and Marcia Thornton Jones.

After local Bailey City band BATs wows the crowds and The Dead Beats purple-haired manager at Winterfest, they become The Dead Beats' opening act.
