Jazz musician, from the short story "The King of Jazz" by Donald Barthelme. It first appeared in The New Yorker, January 30, 1977. Spicy was the "king of jazz," but has just passed away. His instrument isn't specified, but it's clearly not a trombone. Hokie Mokie finds himself crowned the new "king of jazz."
