Poet and harp-player in the Fenian Cycle of Irish mythology. He plays harp to distract some female werewolves so that Cas Corach can kill them.

In the 12th century work, Acallam na Senórach, he is very aged, and tells his stories and history of the Fianna to a newly arrived St. Patrick.

In another 12th century work, Lebor na hUidre (Book of the Dun Cow), Caílte briefly revives from the dead to settle a dispute between King Mongán and his poet Forgoll.
