In the 1976 remake of the classic 1927 film, A Star is Born, the milleux is changed from acting to music. Barbra Streisand plays the rising up and comer, Esther Hoffman. She performs in her singing group with two African American women, (played by Venetta Fields and Clydie King), hence the name. Get it?
