Music mogul Lenny Victor assembles this prefab boy band of protagonists in the 1991 young adult novel Rock 'n' Rebels: Makin' the Grade by "Jahnna N. Malcolm," a pseudonym for the writing team of Jahnna Beecham and Malcolm Hillgartner.

There was a sequel, Sticking Together, also published in 1991.
