All-female band inspired by Beatlemania in "The Ladybugs" episode (24 March 1964) of TV sitcom Petticoat Junction (1963-1970). It's all part of scheming Uncle Joe Carson's (Edgar Buchanan) money-making scheme. He's got booking agent Colonel Partridge (Jesse White) to come up and check them out. Mom is agin it.

They even appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, singing "I Saw Her Standing There" only two days before the episode aired. The Beatles had only appeared on Ed's show about six weeks earlier, on February 9, 1964. This is probably the first fictional Beatles-related band in America!

Lineup:

  • Billie Jo Bradley (Jeannine Riley)
  • Bobbie Jo Bradley (Pat Woodell)
  • Betty Joe Bradley (Linda Henning)
  • Sally Ragsdale (Sheila James Kuehl)

The Colonel is impressed, especially when an arranged group of male teens shows up screaming for the group. But Sally's dad, Sherrif Ragsdale of Pixley, won't let her go on tour- she has to finish high school.
