Metafictional band from a novel-within-a-novel, from the real 1970 novel The Censor by John Gardner. In it, fictional American writer David Askelon has written the hit novel The Golden Spin, about the formation of this band from the hippie scene of Haight-Asbury. The real novel is about Askelon's struggle to get the novel published in the U.K., where he runs afoul of the censor of the title, as The Golden Spin has a lot of sex, drugs and violence.
