An old fairy tale/folk story first recorded by the Brothers Grimm in their 1819 edition of Kinder und Hausmärchen.

A donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster, all old, decide to go to the German town of Bremen and start new lives. On their journey they need somewhere to stay the night and come to a house where a bunch of robbers are enjoying their ill-gotten goods. The animals "sing" for the men, scaring them away, and the animals live happily ever after in the house off of the robbers' stuff.

There have been many versions and retellings of this tale, including a 1972 television special Muppet version, The Muppet Musicians of Bremen.
