They are a Police cover band with Kevin Malone as the drummer and lead singer. The name of the band is a portmanteau of Scranton, PA and the 1983 Police album Synchronicity. They were originally a Steve Miller Band cover act known as Jokers & Tokers.

The band makes their first appearance on the show US Office playing Don't Stand So Close to Me during the season two finale Casino Night, when Pam and Jim are watching videos of bands in order to find a band to play at Pam and Roy's wedding. Later in the episode, Roy asks Kevin if Scrantonicity will perform at the wedding, to which Kevin agrees, but it is revealed in the season three premiere "Gay Witch Hunt" that the wedding was called off.

They have played 3 weddings including their bassist's wedding, their guitarist's wedding, and Phyllis' wedding (in the episode Phyllis' Wedding). In this episode, the band performs several songs by The Police, including "Roxanne", "Message in a Bottle", "Every Breath You Take", and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", which is sung by Karen. They also perform "You Were Meant for Me" by Jewel and Sting's "Fields of Gold".

Kevin is no longer a member of Scrantonicity. He is in a new band - Scrantonicity II, a reference to the Police song Syncronicity II, on the album Syncronicity. (See also Scrantonicity II)
