Singing cowboy character from the 1912 popular song "Ragtime Cowboy Joe," lyrics by Grant Clarke, and music by Lewis F. Muir and Maurice Abrahams. He's strictly an at home (on the range) amateur, singing for his cattle "In a basso voice so rich and deep, a-croonin' soft and low." But he's still "a high-falutin', rootin', shootin', son of a gun from Arizona."
Alvin and the Chipmunks covered the song and released it as their third single from their 1959 album Let's All Sing with the Chipmunks.
