This young aspiring opera singer is just back in Philadelphia after five years training in Europe. Her wealthy mom, Abigail Trent Budell (Ethel Barrymore), has BOUGHT her an opera company, led by real conductor José Iturbi. She's to sing opposite Guido Russino Betelli, but when he quits, she talent spots truck driver Johnny Donnetti and gives him is big break while falling in love with him.
