Swing bandleader and singer popular in San Francisco, from the 1938 mystery novel Sudden Silence, the Case of the Murdered Band-Leader, by Cortland Fitzsimmons (New York, Frederick A. Stokes Company). His band is the house band at the fancy resort Crystal Gardens
He used to play with Hal Harrison and His Harmony Men, but got fired, so he started his own band.
Martin is murdered singing onstage when Harrison is in town on tour, and Harrison is a suspect.
