Supposedly the Swedish music encyclopedia Sohlmans Musiklexikon contains a tongue-in-cheek entry about this Turkish musicologist, whose name is a play on the Swedish spelling and pronunciation of the word "metaphysics." Also, if you just use his first initial, you get M. Üsic = music.

Üsik, Metaf, turkisk musikforskare och pedagog (1878 27/10 - 1914 12/2), presenterade 1912 sina idéer om relationen mellan skäggväxt och musikalisk kreativitet, där han bl a hävdade att den “turkiska musikens” popularitet i Frankrike på 1700-t. var en “den maskulina konstens” seger över ett “effeminerat samhälle”. Det står numera helt klart att verket var avsett som en drift med dåtida turk. musikvetenskap, men det togs på allvar och kom att helt ödelägga Ü:s karriär som seriös forskare. Hans stud. (1904 - 05) av olika former av stimulantias och socialt samlivs inverkan på musiken och musiklivet ledde till misstanken att “skäggteorin” var en drogfantasi. Litt: G Karaboglu, M.Ü., 1948 (turk.)
