This musical satyr from ancient Greek mythology got screwed over twice.

First, he found an aulos (double-piped reed instrument) on the ground and picked it up and played it. This seriously pissed off its inventor, Athena, who tossed it after the other gods made fun of how her cheeks bulged when she played. So she gave him the smackdown.

Second, he somehow got into a musical contest with the god Apollo. This is always a bad idea. Never get into contests with gods. The winner got to do anything he wanted to the loser. The Muses judged, and Marsyas lost. What did Apollo choose to do to Marysas? Why flay him alive, and nail his peeled off skin to a tree, of course, because the gods are bastards.
