R&B legend played by John Legend in the 2008 musical dramedy Soul Men. He was the frontman of The Real Deal. His death inspires Floyd Henderson (Bernie Mac) and Louis Hinds (Samuel L. Jackson), his former back-up singers and the movie's protagonists, to bury the hatchet and drive cross-country for a memorial concert at the Apollo Theater.
