Laurence goes and plays, but promises his mother and siblings he'll be home for Christmas. The Lord Chancellor promises him riches if he'll stay and play on Christmas Day, but Laurence leaves. Then, on his way home, this happens two more times. First at a duke's and then an unnamed, random king's. The king even knights him, but Laurence still leaves, and is home to sing Christmas carols to his family.
