It was originally the opera Rosa with libretto by Greenaway, and a score by real composer Louis Andrieesen that premiered in Amsterdam in 1994. In the opera, he lives in an Uruguayan abattoir with his horse and fiancee until he is mysteriously murdered in 1957.
