From the sketch comedy television series SCTV (1976-1981). He was the bearded host of the SCTV network program The Fishin' Musician. Played by John Candy, he first appeared in 1981.

Real musicians played themselves on his fictional show-within-a-show: The Tubes, The Plasmatics, Third World, Carl Perkins, Jimmy Buffett and Joe Walsh.
