Titular bassist played by Edward Woodward the ITV television play The Bass Player and the Blonde (first aired 14 June 1977) and its three-part episodic follow-on (first aired 8, 15, and 22 Aug. 1978). Mangham, a middle-aged, debt-ridden jazz musician, falls for Terry (Jane Wymark), a much younger vocalist.
