Fictional cowbellist with 1970s real band Blue Oyster Cult in the 8 Apr. 2000 "More Cowbell!" sketch on Saturday Night Live. A spoof of VH1's "Behind the Music" documentary series, it shows the recording of their hit "Don't Fear the Reaper," and features Christopher Walken playing record producer Bruce Dickinson, who constantly stops the recording to exhort Gene with what is now a catchphrase: "more cowbell."
