From the 1938 race movie The Duke Is Tops. No, not Duke Ellington. Duke Davis (Ralph Cooper), an African American theatrical producer and writer. He pushes his singer Ethel Andrews (real singer Lena Horne) to leave his show for the big time. Afterwards, he falls on hard times and hooks up with a traveling medicine show.
