Glenda pretends to be interested in him, and enjoys dating him to hobnob with high society. She breaks his heart when she throws him over for Canner. Canner throws her under the bus when Mellman's playing suffers. Sensitive Mellman leaves for a South American tour. Glenda eventually realizes her usual party hearty ways no longer satisty and that she wants Mellman. After three years, she sees him again and they reconcile.
