Ransom Danny Strange Mysteries.png

Masked, popular tenor singer at Club 44 from the "Date with the Devil" story of comic book Strange Mysteries #11 (May 1953). He's masked because a war injury disfigured his face and left him noseless. His manager, Jim Patterson, is an all-around horrible person, berating Danny, telling him how disgusting he looks, and warning him to keep away from the new girl singer, Sylvia Townsend.

Alas, Danny falls in seriously unrequited love with Sylvia, and finally writes her a letter professing his love, planning to kill himself after his performance that night. Double alas, Patterson intercepts the message, and sadistically decides to teach him a lesson. Triple alas, after his performance, Patterson rips off Danny's mask onstage and the crowd flees his hideous face. Infuriated, Danny strangles Patterson to death, goes mad, and turns himself in.
