Reluctant crooner from Bergenville in the "Love's Splendor" story of Fawcett comic book Sweetheart Diary #5 (October 1950).

Grifter Paula Barnes stumbles on while helping him soothe a troubled baby. He's laid off from the foundry and his wife is working, so he's taking care of the kids. But cynical Barnes sees talent enough for a meal ticket in him. She grooms shy Kemley, and becomes his manager, getting him a radio job and nightclub contracts. But she's also discouraging him from seeing his wife and kids, in hopes of sparking a romance.

His wife confronts Barnes and selflessly steps out of the way of his success, to Barnes' surprise.

When Barnes gets Kemley a big nightclub contract that would mean moving to Hollywood, he selflessly turns it down to stay with his family. He quits singing and gets his old foundry job back.

Flabbergasted by their true, sacrificing love for each other, Barnes gets all romantic with her longtime grifting partner, Del.
