hoax classical music artists

In the 1950s and 1960s, it was apparently common practice for classical music record labels to release works attributed to entirely fictitious orchestras, conductors and soloists. This was done for a number of reasons, but mainly to avoid royalty payments. Starting with known hoax pianist Paul Procopolis, I am using Discogs.com to discover a sort of tree of other hoax artists that appeared with him. I am assuming the labels did not mix real and fictitious names on the same performance. So using that logic, then if Procopolis is a hoax, then so must be the Leipzig Pro Arte Symphony Orchestra that backed him on several albums. Then also so are the conductors credited with leading the fictitious orchestra, Johann Walde and Gorg Ramifsky. And so forth:

Artists on the related Saga/Fidelity/ARC record labels (Marcel Rodd):

  • Paul Procopolis
    • played with Leipzig Pro Arte Symphony Orchestra
      • conducted by Johann Walde
      • conducted by Gorg Ramifsky
      • Pierre Meyer, violin soloist
        • played with London Pro Musica Symphony
          • conducted by Norman Meyer
        • played with L' Orchestre Des Beaux Arts
          • conducted by Louis Maillot
      • played with violinist Maurice Nicole
      • played with Marie Beauchamp
        • Played with Cincinnati Promenade Symphony Orchestra
          • conducted by Peter Groth
          • conducted by Arne Johannsen

Artists associated with William Barrington-Coupe's various labels: Delta/Lyrique/Fidelio/Triumph/Dial/Concert Artists

Other:

  • Giuseppe Parolini]]?
  • Cincinnati Pro Arte Philharmonic?
  • Munich Greater State Symphony?
