Cacofonix is a fictional lyre-playing bard character from the Asterix comics series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo.

Cacofonix (original: Assurancetourix; sometimes translated as Malacoustix or Stopthemusix) in 50 BC. His English name is a pun on the word "cacophony".) is the resident bard of the village Asterix and co. live in. He plays various instruments, but usually the lyre, much to the chagrin of the other characters.

He is considered one of the worst musicians of his time, commonly leading to him being tied up and gagged during the banquet at the end of most volumes so he can't sing or play. His legendary unmusicness even leads to thunderstorms, out- or indoors; still, his music is well-liked by the series' younger people.
