Obscure but talented jazz pianist and songwriter from the 1930s, from the 2016 novel The Vinyl Detective: Written in Dead Wax by Andrew Cartmel. He was burned in a dancehall fire in the mid-1930s, leaving him with facial scars and a cruel nickname.
The Vinyl Detective is hired to find rare albums relating to him: Rita Mae Pollini Sings Burns Hobartt and Easy Geary Plays Burns Hobartt, both released on Hathor in 1955.
