British rock band on the cusp of success but then tragedy strikes in the 1979 novel While My Guitar Gently Weeps by Paul Breeze. A 1980 sequel, Back Street Runner follows former Black Dog guitarist Billy Dancey as he struggles to start over as a drummer in a new band called Mushroom.
