Hey I Did A Podcast
Hey, I was on a podcast for the Not in Hall of Fame website, which has added a fictional Rock and Roll hall of fame, making us the equivalent of two guys who show up at a party wearing the same shirt. It was fun talking with them:
The Wikipedia Fakebandica; or Rocklopedia Fakebandica 2: Electronic Bookaloo
Hello and welcome to The Rocklopedia Fakebandica! It's a wiki, because there's just too dang many fictional bands out there for one person to keep up with!

Click here to find out HOW DO I ADD A BAND?

Rules? Sure, a few:
*Keep it real. - Please only bands/musicians from published sources. There's plenty out there; you don't need to make up any on your own. Cite as much source information as possible.
*Keep it honest. - Please don't cut and paste other people's work. Quoting a modest chunk of source material for context is fine, just credit it.
*Keep it clean. - Please only use four letter words when they are direct quotes, or part of a band's name, lyrics, album title, etc.

Indestructible, soulless monsters that appear briefly in the 1971 fantasy novel The Queen of Swords by Michael Moorcock. The sing before feasting.

Over the valley now came hopping things. They hopped on several legs and from their bodies sprouted a dozen or more tentacles. Their huge eyes rolled, their massive fangs clashed.

“The Karmanal of Zert,” Jhary said in mild surprise as he dropped the reins and armed himself with sword and poinard. “I have encountered these before.”

“How did you escape them?” Rhalina asked.

“I was at that time companion to a champion who had the power to destroy them."

“I, too, have a power,” Corum said grimly, raising his hand to his eye. But Jhary shook his head and grimaced.

"I fear not. The Karmanal of Zert are indestructible. Both Law and Chaos have, in their time, taken steps to do away with them—they are fickle creatures who fight for one side or another without apparent reason. They have no souls, no true existence."

"Therefore they should not be able to harm us!"

The laughter ran on.

"I agree that, logically, they should not be able to harm us," Jhary answered equably. “But I am afraid that they can.”

About ten of the hopping creatures were nearing their chariot, weaving between the statuelike warriors. And they were singing.

“The Karmanal of Zert always sing before they feast,” Jhary told them.

“Always.”

Classical composer wanna-be from the 1944 film Greenwich Village.

Set in 1922 New York City, Harvey arrives from Wichita, Kansas where he was a professor of music, hoping to show his concerto to other classical composer Kavosky and get it published.

Harvey runs afoul of speakeasy owner Danny O'Mara (William Bendix), who wants to put on a Broadway-type revue. Harvey falls for one of O'Mara's singers, Bonnie Watson (Vivian Blaine) and O'Mara steals his tunes for his "Greenwich Village Gaieties" show.

Harvey's concerto is based on the melody of a real 1920s hit, "Whispering." O'Mara rewrites it into the hit song.

Played by Don Ameche.
Comic strip artist Al Capp of Li'l Abner fame (1934-1977) had a merciless sense of humor which he used in parody after parody of pop culture in his strip. Unfortunately, by the 1960s he had lived long enough to become the villain. His outspoken hatred of the hippies and folk/rock 'n' roll protest music showed up in his strip as the ham-fisted parody of Commie-loving, America-hating, creepily masculine folk music traitor Joanie Phoanie. It was based on Joan Baez, who threatened Capp with legal action in 1967. A decade earlier, Capp's parody of Liberace (Loverboynik), also got him accused of libel by the pianist.

Capp wasn't done sticking it to them dirty hippies though, and planned an at least 12 strip story line with Rotten Rodney, his parody of singer Bob Dylan. But the project was never completed, probably because of Baez's legal threats. So the character never actually appeared in the strip, but the unfinished artwork turned up later on an auction website.

Performing pseudonym of Li'l Abner Yokum in a run of comic strip Li'l Abner from December 1943 to January 1944. In a spoof of the crooner craze (exemplified by Frank Sinatra), cartoonist Al Capp has his protagonist fall afoul of the conniving singer Concertino Constiato. Constiato can sing, but looks hideous. So he gets the idea to turn Abner into a crooner by starving and abusing him until he looks thin and haggard enough. Constiato secretly provides the vocals while "McGurgle" lip-synchs. They win a radio contract with New York City station KWOON. Then McGurgle is kidnapped by an overeager fan club.
Frank Sinatra would himself appear in the strip on May 13, 1946.
